Under the CCSS, you must use the Lexile scoring to determine text complexity, one of the three ways to evaluate the appropriateness of a text for a lesson. When this was first implemented, it was difficult to find the Lexile of a particular book. But now, there’s an online tool to do just that.
School librarians may update their database at Mitnet, then add any remaining scores needed by hand.
